Noel & Fergal interview in Peru, Discuss new upcoming albums

As reported by Dolores O'Riordan Spain and Cranberries World, during an interview in Peru promoting The Cranberries final tour date of the year, Noel and Fergal revealed details of the band's upcoming albums:

They announced a tentative release time for the the previously announced album of reworked songs with the Irish Chamber Orchestra, May 2017. (This, again, is tentative, it's best to lower your expectations and add about 3-6 months to these release dates). The big news is that along with reworked versions of some of the band's best songs, the album will also include 3 brand new songs!

The other big news is that they said they are writing songs for an all new album with all original songs! They hope to record it after a promotional tour for the acoustic album!

2017 looks bright for The Cranberries!

E-mail I received this morning:

"Hi,

Unfortunately, not enough orders were placed to meet the requirements for a minimum run to be manufactured and we will therefore be refunding you for this item. We are extremely sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and will process your refund ASAP.
If you have any questions, please contact our Customer Service team via your order here - pledgemusic.com/pledges.

Can't say I'm shocked by this one, but it's a shame as it sounded like a cool and unique item. Oh well, at least I know my signed LP is on it's way finally!

Off topic: Cranberryesque Recommends: "Modern Burdens" - Tracy Bonham

Okay guys, off topic; For fan's of 90's female rock music, which I'm sure there are more than a few reading this blog. Here's something that can hold you over while we wait for new Cranberries material.

Another one of my favorite artists is the amazing Tracy Bonham. Many in the US may remember her massive, Grammy nominated hit, Mother Mother, the song that replaced Salvation as #1 on the Modern Rock charts in 1996. It was also the last song by a female solo artist to hit #1 on that chart until Lorde's Royals just a few years ago... seventeen years later.

Well, Tracy is releasing a new album, re-recording and re-imagining her debut album, "The Burdens of Being Upright". She is working with some amazing 90's and recent indie female vocalists such as Angie Hart (from Frente, who many super Cranberries fans remember provided vocals for the haunting Mono Band song "Coyotes & Helicopters"!!), Kay Hanley (Letter's Cleo), and Tanya Donelly (Belly) to name a few.

Tracy has set up a Pledge Music page to fund this project that looks to be amazing. I highly recommend this to all Cranberries fans. And if you haven't heard the original album or any of Tracy's albums, I highly recommend them as well! See link:  Modern Burdens - Pledge Music

PS: While I originally brought "The Burdens of Being Upright" for Mother Mother and The One, this is the song that officially made me a fan:

Small random update: "Free To Decide" music video finally available on The Cranberries official youtube vevo page

One strange mystery that has had fans wondering for a while was why the music video for "Free To Decide" wasn't included on the band's youtube vevo  account. It was the only one missing (other than "Uncertain" of course). Today, out of nowhere, that has been rectified.

So...uh...any chance of finally getting "Uncertain" guys?

Off topic: President Elect Trump (something I wish I never had to type)

Alright guys, following up on my post from yesterday here.

I get a lot of page views from outside of the United States, and I feel the need to make a few things clear. Donald Trump does not represent all of our views. He got to where he is now by appealing to the lowest denominator of the American electorate. Racists have effectively taken over the country I love.

Words cannot express the hurt, sadness and embarrassment I feel this morning. I have always been a, "glass is half full" person, I'm sad to say that for the first time in a long time that glass is half empty.

I have absolutely nothing positive to say today. I began writing this post thinking I'd post a Cranberries song that encapsulates my feelings, but even my favorite band can't help.

Again, please don't group all of us together. Donald Trump and the people that elected him will never be representative of mine or many other's views here.

Special Post: People in the United States, Vote today!!

As many Cranberries fans remember, Free To Decide was used as the theme song for MTV's Rock The Vote in 1996. Here we are 20 years later and our vote has never mattered more.

We are free to decide between love or hate, inclusion or exclusion. Free to decide whether to vote for or against woman's rights, LGBT rights, the environment, immigration, the black lives matter movement, gun rights/common sense gun laws, religious rights, the list goes on.

I have voted in every election since I turned 18 and I'm damn proud of that fact.

As someone who's first Presidential vote was in Florida in the year 2000, I know how important every single vote is. I had friends that voted for Ralph Nader that were kicking themselves afterwards. Every vote counts!

"Zombie" heard on "Fresh Off The Boat"

Getting caught up on my DVR. "Zombie" is heard during a car scene in the episode, "Breaking The Chains".

Apparently ABC had a little bit of a Cranberries night. This aired the same night ABC's "American Housewife" played "Dreams". Coincidence?

Angelo Badalamenti's EvilEnko soundtrack to get limited vinyl release.

Full credit goes to Cranberries World for originally finding this piece of news.

Angelo Badalamenti's 'Evilenko' Score Gets First Vinyl Release

As many Cranberries fans know, Dolores provides vocals for two songs, "Angels Go To Heaven" and "No Way Out" (which is basically a reprise of "Angels Go To Heaven"). No Mention of the full band mix of "Angels Go To Heaven" that was included on the CD version of the soundtrack, it remains to be seen if it will be included.

Limited to only 499 copies. Pretty cool collectors item.

Dreams heard several times on new show "American Housewife"

Throughout the show's second episode, "The Nap", the main character seeks to take (you guessed it) a nap and is constantly interrupted. Every time she starts to doze off we hear Dreams. Cute show.

CD and LPs of "Science Agrees" officially available in the US

I got a shipping confirmation from Amazon last night. Check your local CD stores if you're lucky enough to still have one open near you. I can't wait to finally have these in my hands!

Pledge music signed LPs for D.A.R.K. delayed

Seems the albums were damaged in transit being shipped around the world getting all band member's signatures. They have a quick solution for the CDs and will get them out "ASAP" But the LPs will take longer. No word about the screen prints.

ETA: A user from pledge music has reported already receiving his signed CD today in the pledge music discussion section! (....waiting patiently)

The Cranberries to headline festival in Peru December 17th

I generally don't report every worldwide tour date as I try to focus my blog on the US. But this one is noteworthy as it will be the first since the band's cancellations due to Dolores' back problems. Glad to see she's doing better! See link

Is something D.A.R.K. brewing?

D.A.R.K. has posted a video on instagram of them from last year performing Loosen The Noose in a live rehearsal. (See link) With the caption, "We taped one of our rehearsals last year. Which song on the album would you like to see played live?"

Does this mean a tour will be announced soon? Only time will tell.

"Science Agrees" officially released digitally!

Finally for all to listen to!

Regarding the physical release, the official store's "fulfillment" is listed as October 1st and as you know, Amazon US is listing it as October 14.

D.A.R.K. European tour cancelled

Unfortunately Dolores is still having issues with her back, really sorry to hear this as I was looking forward to the youtube videos and living vicariously through the lucky fans.

Wishing Dolores a speedy recovery.

According to Amazon US: "Science Agrees" delayed again!!!????.... but there's a twist - Get the album today, but hurry!

I was one frustrated blogger yesterday when I received an e-mail from Amazon with the new release date for Science Agrees... October 14th.  =(

But wait...

As first reported by Cranberries Mexico the album is available NOW in digital form on sites like Itunes, napster, spotify, amazon digital, etc.

As you may remember, today was one of the original release dates. It's very possible that the record company forgot to inform the digital outlets that the date had been pushed back... again. I got Tracy Bonham's 3rd album (which had also been delayed) 2 months early a while back that way, before the record company noticed and took it down.

...so get it before anyone notices!

"Science Agrees" delayed again?

New reports are saying that, "Science Agrees" has been delayed to September 9th. The article doesn't state whether this is for all territories (or even what territory it applies to, my guess the US). Waiting and see right now. Again, I don't mind the album delays, as long as they don't reschedule the tour again.

Just as I predicted, Amazon has updated the release date of the MP3 version of the album to August 19th. The physical copies will likely follow suit soon.

D.A.R.K. tour and album postponed, New Cranberries album of reworked songs?

As previously reported "Science Agrees" had been pushed back to June 24th in the States. Now it appears the release has been postponed everywhere else, to July and August. I'm expecting the US release date to be pushed back again, as we never get anything early here.

Pushing back an album, for me, is not a big deal, but it's a real shame that the tour dates for the end of May have also all been pushed back to September. Really sorry to all the fans who had tickets, especially those who had booked flights and hotel rooms.

The official excuse is that the lead guitarist (presumably Andy Rourke) will be unavailable to tour at the end of this month.

Also there are unofficial rumblings (Cranberries World) that The Cranberries are reworking old songs with the Irish Chamber Orchestra for a possible upcoming new record. We shall see.

Dolores O'Riordan's new band D.A.R.K. postpone tour & push back album release by several months

Physical copies of "Science Agrees" delayed a month in the US

Amazon.com has updated the US release date for the CD and Vinyl release for June 24th.

This is likely to give the band separate time to promote the album in Europe and in the US.

It appears the full album will still be available on digital May 27th in the US.

Listen to the "Curvy" radio edit

As previously reported, radio stations in Ireland have been playing a radio edit of "Curvy". Follow the link bellow to listen to it yourself (at about the 14:00 mark). Unsurprisingly it edits out the long intro and unfortunately edits out the last two verses. I think they could have been a little more creative in order to get the time down without losing the the final verses.

"Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?" & "Roses" Anniversaries

Tomorrow will mark the 23rd American release anniversary of The Cranberries 1st album, "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?". Fittingly,  yesterday was the 4 year anniversary of the band's 6th and last (to date) album, "Roses".

To mark the occasion on this leap day between these two anniversaries, I share with you my personal favorite non-hit songs from each album.

Sunday was released as the 3rd radio single in the US from "Everybody". It followed Dreams and Linger and was followed by Still Can't...

Initially none of the radio singles charted until College radio picked up Linger which eventually peaked at #8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The band opted to re-release Dreams with a new music video and it was embraced by Modern Rock radio peaking at #14 and #42 on the Hot 100 chart.

Instead of building on the momentum of Linger and Dreams by releasing (or re-releasing) another single, the band opted to record and promote their 2nd album. So, unfortunately Sunday was never given a proper single release or music video.

"Roses", the band's 6th album was released almost exactly 19 years to the day as their debut album. Two songs were released to radio in the US, Tomorrow was released to Triple A and Hot AC and Show Me was released to Modern Rock. Tomorrow peaked in the low 30s on Triple A and Show Me failed to make a significant impact.

Astral Projections was unfortunately never given a radio release but in my opinion was highly worthy. The band originally debuted the song while they were opening for The Rolling Stones in 2003 before their extended break.

So many amazing, single worthy songs on this album, including Conduct, Schizophrenic Playboys and Fire and Soul (which had a radio release in Russia), but Astral Projections is my favorite. I literally get lost in the music and lyrics. Listening to modern rock radio today, I think this would have fit right in.

Happy anniversary to both of these amazing albums!

...and the other album Dolores has coming out in the next year will be with The Irish Chamber Orchestra!

Dolores performed with them for New Year's Eve 2013 in Ireland.

O'Riordan said she had one collection planned with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and that she would use "music, dancing, performing" to help her recover from the episode of mental illness.

"Dolores O'Riordan and The Irish Chamber Orchestra" has a nice ring to it.

Jetlag NYC changes name to "Dark", will release debut album this year

When it rains it pours:

https://www.facebook.com/jetlagnyc/?fref=photo

According to fan reports, Dolores mentioned that one of her soon to be released albums will be with the project, "DARK". It all comes together.

Dolores has "a couple albums" coming out!!

Outside of the courthouse, Dolores is looking towards the future.

"I'm very good today, very positive about this coming year. I have a couple of albums coming out and I'm going to go back to work."

Solo? Cranberries? Jetlag NY? Woo freakin' Hoo!!

Back to form - Major news coming soon!

Okay, I've allowed this blog to go un-updated for way too long. I'm back, hopefully for good.

Much has happened in the 2 years since I've updated this blog. As many fans are aware, the band members have lots of projects in the works. But I think we are all the most excited about the recent update on the band's website stating "New coming soon...."

My two main theories are:

1. The obvious, new album/new tour. Last year, Dolores and Noel publicly reunited for the first time since the (still unexplained) legal proceedings between them for an episode of The Bachelorette. It seems these two have buried the hatchet, and it wouldn't surprise me if they have been sending each other music like they did leading up to the recording of Roses.

2. Last year Noel tweeted a series of photos of his personal collection of Cranberries demos and rare recordings. It's possible they are going to release a set of remastered rare tracks.

I would love for both of these things to happen, but I'm leaning towards #1.

Cranberries - Coming Soon
